World Without End is a series of short memoirs, in which John Wickham records in beautiful, lucid and at times heady prose, a progress through time. He summons, in little novellas, the marvellous world of the Caribbean from Haiti to Trinidad - the sudden storms and squalls that ignite landscapes within, the threads which weave the wonder of it, and bind the textures of place.

The pieces could be described, in words used by the Haitian novelist Jacques Stephen Alexis, as ‘le réalisme merveilleux’ - marvellous realism.
