Growing up in Trinidad, I was intrigued by the folklore stories my mother would narrate to us as kids. These stories fueled my inquisitive nature and took me into an investigative journey in search of these ‘Jumbies’ as they are colloquially known. The prospect of coming face to face with a Largahoo, Douen, Soucouyant, La Diablesse, Mama Glo or Papa Bois created shivers, excitement and delight as I devised and planned routes to finding these Jumbies.
