Reference is made increasingly these days to ‘Windrush’, in discourse about Black people on post-war Britain. So much so, that young people of any ethnicity could be forgiven for believing that the Black presence in Britain began with the arrival of a boat called the ‘Windrush’ in 1948. That belief is likely to go uncontested, especially as Black people in British social history is such a neglected area in school curriculum.
