Two narratives comprises this book " mambi & the crocodile & "mammadu & the great beast" are translations of mandinka texts recorded during a live performance in the gambia by the author in 1969. It recounts the exploits of heroes many centuries ago .when presenting the narratives he used the "simbingo" instrument typical of the hunters' bard.
