Anansi, also spelled Ananse is a folktale character that originated in Ghana and has become well known through West African and Caribbean folklore. Anansi, is a charismatic and mischievous spider who always initiates a scheme to come out on top. In this original tale, Anansi accepts an invitation to visit his cousin Ark in Ottawa, Canada. He is amazed by the sights and sounds of this new world and especially by the glitter of snow. Ark tricks Anansi into shoveling his walkway by telling him that snow is white gold.
